Charelle Unique, a talented vocalist who hails from Akron, Ohio; began singing in her local church at the tender age of three. Charelle participated in the Coventry High School Music Program and began formal training in classical music at Kent State University in 2006.
Charelle has traveled throughout the Eastern US competing in various talent competitions including placing 1st in the Annual Easter Talent Showcase (Akron, OH); Apollo Night (Kent,OH); Best Gospel Singer (Pgh, PA); The Black Family Reunion R&B Talent Search (Pgh, PA).
Ms. Unique was the featured artist on the Trinity Broadcast Network 2014, and is a recorded vocalist on the top 10 billboard Hot Singles Chart for the gospel hit Freedom by Dr Sheila Johnson-Hunt. She has performed at a number of community events including the The Annual Summit County Juneteenth Festival (Akron,OH); the KSU NAACP Umoja Unity Festival (Kent,OH); the KSU Darfur Peace Educational Awareness Forum (Kent,OH); Harambee Ujimaa Black Arts Festival(Pgh,PA); The Best of Sunday Gospel Extravaganza (Pgh,PA); Toshi’s (Harlem, NY); and Songs In The Key of Worship (Harlem, NY); just to name a few. She has also performed in musical tributes dedicated to the contributions of both Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle. Her gift allowed her the opportunity to be the lead actress in the gospel plays The Day the Devil Died as Corrine and Mama I Want To Sing as Doris Troy.
Charelle Unique has been blessed to sing internationally in a number of events varying from community festivals, to gospel brunches, to even
private weddings. She was the lead vocalist for a gospel concert in Jamaica in both Oracabessa & Portmore to raise funds for the Spicy Grove Youth Center.
She participated in an international tour with The Glory Gospel Singers led by Phyliss Joubert. Charelle Unique was the featured singer to do a tribute to the great Aretha Franklin in the 2019 tour. The 30 show tour was held throughout several parts of Germany which included Mannheim,Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Mainz, Heidelberg, Bad Durkheim, etc to name a few. Lastly she has performed as an opening act for the comedian Michael Winslow, neo-soul singer Dwele, R&B singers Guy,H-Town, Jagged Edge, & The Whispers.
Charelle Unique, has affectionately earned the nickname “songbird” due to her heartfelt interpretations and the authentic showmanship she expresses with every song. She learned at an early age to use her singing
ability as a positive coping mechanism for her pain. She finds her inspiration through modern R&B, Neo-Soul, & Gospel artists and creates her own lyrics through life experiences, tests, and trials. Charelle’s quirky but confident persona has a relatability that captivates the hearts of concert-goers and judges alike. She uses her sense of spirituality & musical abilities to be a “voice for the voice-less”.
Charelle invokes an internal response from each individual in the audience with her precision, power, & her Alto to 1st Soprano vocal range. Other characteristics displayed include: great control,
breathing techniques, vocal dynamics, interpretation, presence, and professionalism. She aspires to use her vocal abilities to bring peace to those who are troubled, spread love to those who are
open to receive it, and hope to those who have lost their faith.
